Cooper's Rock Mountain Lion Sanctuary

Mountain Lion Sanctuary Gallery

Here, we will show you our great photographs from events at the Sanctuary. Over time, we will be trying to assemble galleries from past events. For now, enjoy the most recent additions!

Volunteer Day 7-17-2004
The kindness and hard work of our volunteers continues to pay big dividends. Volunteers continued to improve the perimeter fence and started hanging a new roof, as well as helped clean up the place! Check out some of the volunteers in this gallery.
Boy Scouts Troop 49
On May 8, 2004, Boy Scout Troop 49 (sponsored by First Christian Church of Morgantown) came to the Sanctuary to build us a new bridge across Mountain Creek as part of an Eagle Scout project. Our last bridge was washed away by storms in 2003. This new footbridge was completed on May 15. Thanks guys!
Volunteer Day 4-24-2004
We had another great Volunteer Day, this one focusing on building a perimeter fence for the enclosures across the creek. This gallery shows many of our volunteers who helped out that day.
Brownie Troop 4547
Over the fall of 2003 we had a visit from Brownie Troop 4547 to learn about North America's great cats. Thanks for the photo!
Bridge Repair
Spring floods overwhelmed our bridge, but thanks to some hardy volunteers we got it back into service in no time!
Volunteer Day 10-12-2002
Crummy weather didn't keep the volunteers away, as we soon learned! We had a full complement of volunteers on hand despite the drizzle, and barely enough work to go around. Volunteers focused on preparing for a perimeter fence around the Hillside, and building a nice den for Tecumseh.
Tecumseh's Move
On July 27, 2002, Tecumseh officially moved from the Original Enclosure to the The Palace, one of the grant-funded large enclosures, recently renovated just for him. The Sanctuary decided to move him without tranquilization if at all possible, and prepared accordingly. These photos show how it went.
Volunteer Day 7-13-2002
Sure, the summer heat slowed us down, but the volunteers still banded together to work on a new roof for Tecumseh, and clearing ground to build an all-new enclosure. This gallery captures our volunteers hard at work.
Junior Girl Scout Troop 4586
On May 14, 2002, this troop paid us a visit, and we all had a great time. They kindly provided us with this group photograph.
Volunteer Day 4-27-2002
Great weather, dedicated volunteers, and a visit from Boy Scout Troop 1367 combined to make our largest Volunteer Day ever! Have a look at our gallery of a few of the six dozen volunteers hard at work!
Carrie's Move
Carrie was the lucky cougar to move into the new, large enclosure. But moving a not-entirely-tame mountain lion from one enclosure to another is no simple task. Follow Carrie's big day with our photo essay of her move.
