Mountain Lion Sanctuary Tour: Carrie

Carrie was a pet cougar from the Maryland suburbs who lived in an outdoor pen with a wooden floor for 12 years. Her owners donated her to Cooper's Rock Mountain Lion Sanctuary after they realized that they could not properly care for her. She arrived in the summer of 2000.

Carrie started out in The Palace -- the first of the 50-foot-square enclosures -- but she prefers privacy. When the sanctuary completed The Hillside in January 2002, Carrie moved there.

Carrie died peacefully on October 28, 2002.
