Cooper's Rock Mountain Lion Sanctuary won a grant from the Summerlee Foundation that provided the money to build The Palace, the sanctuary's first 50-foot-square enclosure. It has a steel frame and chain-link walls. The sanctuary built the enclosure in the summer of 2000, which includes a stone weather shelter and a den. Carrie originally lived in The Palace, but moved to the privacy of The Hillside in January 2002. The sanctuary then renovated The Palace to accommodate the significantly more active Tecumseh, who moved to this enclosure in August 2002.
